Raccoon Poop is Dangerous
Most raccoons in Ontario carry a dangerous parasite known as raccoon roundworm, or Baylisascris Procyonis. The parasite does not harm the raccoons very much, but it is lethal to humans, cats, and dogs. Roundworm eggs are passed in raccoon feces, which then make their way into the soil or become airborne when the feces are dry. Accidentally ingesting the eggs may result in severe illness, with symptoms including fatigue, nausea, loss of muscle control, and blindness. Contact us today if there are feces on your property and we will remove them safely.

Raccoons Don't Flush
Raccoons are relatively clean animals that like to wash their food and defecate away from their dens. Like us, they use the same spots every time, but they don’t flush. Raccoons like to poop in the same locations, over and over, creating nasty piles of poop known as latrines. As long as the animal feels safe, it will use the same latrine. Latrines are usually found on the lawn, on roofs, on or under decks, in sheds, and within attics. If there is a latrine on your property, you should have it removed immediately. Latrines will only get worse with time.

What Does Raccoon Poop Look Like?
Raccoon poop looks a lot like dog poop. Droppings are light to dark brown, 2 to 3 inches in length, and blunt at the ends. The only differentiator between a raccoon’s droppings and a dog’s is the presence of undigested berries within the poop. Raccoon poop is also usually found in piles, known as latrines. Latrines are usually found on raised surfaces, such as the top of a roof or the base of a tree. Latrines may also be found in attics.
